INSTALLING DOOR EMBLEMS

Someone was going to install door emblems on his car and wanted to know what the measurements were to position them correctly.  Luckly, the service manual had the placement dimensions drawn out.

This is for the driver's side door.  First off, I have a LS and the door emblems on my car do not include a "LS".  Also, I measured the emblems and the driver's side starts 3 inches from the leading edge of my door, not 4 inches as indicated by this drawing.
This is for the passenger's side.  If you ignore the "LS", the measurements were correct when compared to my car.

Here are the instructions from the manual:

  1. Clean the area where the emblem will be installed.  Use a lint free cloth and VMP naptha or a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water to clean the area.
  2. Dry the area thoroughly.
  3. When applying the emblem, apply tape to the surface and mark the location as shown.  The tape will be your guide for the bottom edge of the emblem.
  4. Heat the mounting surface to approx. 27-41 deg. C. (80-105 deg. F).
  5. Ensure that the temp of the emblem is approx. 29-32 deg. C. (85-90 degrees F).
  6. Remove the protective liner from the back of the emblem.
  7. Position the emblem and press it to the mounting surface.
  8. Apply equal pressure almong the emblem in order to uniformly bond the item to the mounting surface.
  9. Remove the guide tape from the mounting surface.
